Multimedia (Video, Costume, Set Design). 2020

As I continue to process my past relationship and everything that goes with that experience and I have been wanting to let out a certain frustration and confusion that is constantly filling my mind. Being here, in LA, has helped me organize those thoughts and I have also been open to trying mediums and forms of art. I’ve been working on a multimedia sculpture that ended up turning into a prop for a video performance piece that I’ve been thinking about. The sculpture dives into the feeling of being trapped, scarred, and broken during a break-up you can’t explain. In the performance, I explore how my words and visuals come together to tell my story. I felt having my own words and lyrics would help bring a more personal connection to the piece. I was inspired by artists who create covers as their art, as well as parody music, like Weird Al Yankovic. I’d like to say that this performance is an emotional parody on the Kanye West song, “Runaway”.
