Here’s a recap of my art workshop at the Museum of Latin America Art, January 8, 2023.

 The workshop discussed La Virgen de Guadalupe, a Mexican cultural icon that symbolizes Old World conquest and political liberation. I provided the historical, social, and political landscape through a presentation of slides of the Virgen story and encouraged students to incorporate their personal relationship with the cultural icon to create banners of freedom on mixed media paper with paint, magazine cutouts and black ribbon.
