Overview
Students will use the fundamentals of creating value and texture with shading materials and basic drawing techniques. They will explore elements of art value, texture, and space in a series of assignments that require students to focus on contour drawing, value shading, and drawing techniques to create maximum contrast in a drawing. Utilize inquiry methods of observation, research, and experimentation to explore unfamiliar subjects through art-making.
Objectives
Apply fundamental shading techniques to create value, texture, and contrast in still-life drawings.
Develop observational skills through contour drawing and value shading exercises.
Experiment with different materials to explore how texture and space influence composition.
